The textile and clothing industry is a traditional advantageous industry of Guangdong Province, especially Dongguan city, located in the hinterland of the Pearl River Delta region. Its textile and clothing industry is a well-known production and export base. In order to improve the export competitiveness of Dongguan textile and clothing industry, three major international competitiveness indicators were selected in this article to analyze the export competitiveness of Dongguan city’s textile and clothing industry. Those are International Market Share Index, Trade Competitive Advantage Index, and Revealed Comparative Advantage Index. The corresponding countermeasures and suggestions are proposed to address the problems in the export competitiveness of Dongguan city’s textile and clothing industry....
E-commerce, as a transformative technological innovation, offers unparalleled opportunities for enhancing supply chain management efficiency and effectiveness. This study was conducted to investigate the factors influencing the behavioural intention of retail and consumer goods traders to adopt e-commerce for supply chain management in developing countries. The research employs a quantitative design with the data being collected through the administration of questionnaires to a randomly selected sample size of 329 registered retail and consumer goods traders in Zambia. The sample size was determined using the Yamane formula and the data collected was analysed using statistical methods based on correlation and multiple regression analysis in Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The findings indicate that the core constructs of the adapted Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology Model (UTAUT) and Theory of Perceived Risk (TPR) proposed model such as Performance Expectancy (β = 0.261, p < 0.05), Effort Expectancy (β = −0.088, p < 0.05), Social Influence (β = −1.057, p < 0.05), Perceived Risk (β = −0.083, p < 0.05) and Facilitating Conditions (β = 0.201, p < 0.05) have a significant effect on the Behavioural Intention of retail and consumer goods traders to adopt e-commerce for supply-chain management. The study aims to contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing insights into the unique factors, challenges and opportunities facing retail and consumer goods traders in developing countries with regard to adopting e-commerce for supply chain management....
While the world economy has become increasingly regionalized, the trade volume between China and ASEAN has grown significantly. However, the logistics performance is not developing synchronously, and the situation is unsatisfactory. This paper takes the urgent transportation between China and Thailand as an example, and proposes a model of time-based performance evaluation. The model presents an approach to fuzzy algorithms on linguistic variables based on analyzing the main influencing factors. Thus, it is practical when accurately measurable data is unavailable, and it can also be used to select a relatively optimal solution from several alternatives....
The Facility Location Problem (FLP) is fundamental for companies seeking to optimize their logistics operations and gain a competitive advantage. In this context, the selection of locations for factories, warehouses, distribution centers and logistics centers is one of the main approaches used to reduce logistics costs. This study performed a literature review on FLP and explored how FLP techniques can be applied to solve location problems for logistics hubs. Furthermore, the research sought works related to the main methods of multi- criteria analysis for decision making. The research was carried out by searching two databases, Google Scholar and Scopus. Although the literature presents several methods for solving FLP, the P-median method was well accepted for applying FLP in the selection of locations for logistics centers, as well as the help of multi-criteria methods to, together with FLP, bring greater accuracy in making decisions. The objective of this study was achieved by highlighting the importance of FLP techniques and how they can help companies in making decisions to install logistics hubs, considering multimodal integration, distance and cost optimization. This work was exploratory and theoretical in nature, using a quantitative approach to generate data and support discussions on the topic....
Increasingly, ports are shifting towards environmental protection to acquire or maintain their competitive advantages. While they contribute to global economic development, port activities can have negative effects on coastal areas and marine biodiversity. The Port of San Pedro is undertaking several actions in favor of sustainable development, which has enabled it to obtain multiple certifications and ISO standards. This article presents the role it has played in acquiring these certifications. Institutional theory has been mobilized to demonstrate how the Port of San Pedro engages stakeholders in the port area towards port sustainability. Qualitative methodology was used to conduct interviews with the Director of Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment Services at this port. The results highlight the coercive policy deployed by the Port to engage port stakeholders in achieving sustainable development goals and make the Port of San Pedro a sustainable port....
